DS Drums from Italy are a relative newcomer to the UK market. Founded by Luca Deorsola in 1995, DS have been making drums for their home market for quite sometime and now they are venturing worldwide. Here we have one of the new Venom series snare drums which is inspired from the Rebel custom series offering the same premium features and build quality but with a more condensed range of choices to keep the price competitive.

Don’t be fooled by the great prices, these drums are excellently made, fantastic sounding snare drums. The secret lies in the combination of two woods and DS multi thickness technology. American Maple contains a high amount of sugar which makes the sound crystal clear, while European Maple contains a low percentage of sugar which offers exceptional low mid and low frequencies.

The mechanism also deserves a mention for its incredibly articulate control and ease of use.
