International Customers

January 2021 What has changed?

As many of our international customers will be aware the United Kingdom completed trade talks with the European Union on December 24th and completed the trade deal terms for the U.K. to leave the E.U.

These new rules change the way in which we must now deal with our customers who remain in the E.U. The good news is that not too much will change in terms of what items will cost to you.

Below are some of the things that are changing with some explanations of how things will work and what we are doing to adapt to the changes in order to continue to serve our valued customers across the world.

V.A.T.

Before the U.K. left the European Union, V.A.T. was charged at the rate where the business selling the goods was based, this means customers in the E.U. but from outside the U.K. would pay 20% V.A.T. at the point of placing an order with us. Going forwards customers outside the U.K. will no longer pay the 20% U.K. V.A.T. at the point of sale effectively lowering the cost of our goods. Instead of U.K. V.A.T. your countries V.A.T. rate will be applied when the goods arrive at your customs destination. At the time of writing rates in the E.U. vary between 19% and 27% meaning there will be slight variances from country to country, in most cases the rates are very close to the 20% meaning little to no change.

Tariffs

The U.K. and the E.U. have negotiated that there will be no tariffs on products bought in the U.K. being sent to the E.U.

Website changes for international customers:

Our website checkout has already been changed to exempt V.A.T. charges at the point of order for all customers who live outside the U.K. If you are buying from outside the U.K. you will need to go through the checkout process which will remove the UK taxes for you before purchase.

International Shipping

We have always specialised in international shipping and the importing and exporting of instruments across the world. We are pleased to say that we already have all the correct documentation in place making us compliant for sending products to the E.U. under the new regulations.
