We are very proud to represent Evetts Drums here in the U.K. Like many of the specialist brands we handle Evetts offer very unique looking and sounding drums which are constructed from the finest Australian Hardwoods available. Sonically these drums are incredible and they are flawlessly built. This stunning Tasmanian Blackwood drum kit we have here is the first in the UK and is available as a 4 piece with the matching snare drum. This kit is finished in Exotic Figured Blackwood Veneer which has been expertly applied across the shells to maximum effect and finished off with a striking centre inlay. The kit then underwent a pain staking finishing process requiring several coats of satin paint to create the final smooth satin finish which is flawless.
Evetts hand build their Kits in Australia. Evetts shells are generally either Spotted Gum, Jarrah or Tasmanian Blackwood though other Australian Hardwoods are available too. The unique sound of Evetts drums inherently comes from the shell. All their drum shells are pressed in-house with specially designed dry-forming cold-pressed moulds. Their expert moulding technology allows the resins to cure naturally at room temperature under consistent and even pressure. The processes at Evetts allow for the creation of the most breathtaking and remarkable sounding drum shells.
Tasmanian Blackwood is currently an unusual shell for drum building, the only really other notable company who have made drums with it in the past are Brady. Evetts say that Tasmanian Blackwood is their workhorse material which produces warm, mellow, rounded tones with lots of low end. The woody character creates a rich and balanced sound that is extremely sensitive yet punchy.
Visually Tasmanian Blackwood ranges from a gorgeous golden amber through to an extremely elegant dark chocolate brown and this kit shows that beautiful colour palette off to perfection!
