Here we have a very beautiful and rare drum. This is a Ford Snare made by the company personally for Marvin "Smitty" Smith. The drum is a solid shell Orange Cocobolo with Maple reinforcement rings and features offset double tube vintage style lugs and a Dunnett snare strainer system. This snare is from the Exotic line which offers a solid, steam bent shell. The sealing and lacquering process on Ford Drums is also exceptional! The inside of this drum will have received multiple coats of vinyl and nitrocellulose lacquer and the outside of the drum uses a top-of-the-line lacquer that gives a mirror like shine - you can see your face in this one! 

For anyone who hasn't come across Ford, the company operated in the USA between 2001 and 2018. They were noted for their extremely high end luxury drums. The company was named after one of its partners, Jimmy Ford and the other partner was Jay Gaylen. Together, Jimmy and Jay set out to do one thing: craft the finest drums and related products on the planet, creating heirloom instruments and accessories. Another notable product were the drumvee cases one of which is included with this snare.

Made for Marvin "Smitty" Smith

This snare was made in 2005 and features interior and exterior engraving that simply reads "Smitty" Inside there is a paper tag that reads 'Hand crafted by JG, JF & SR for Marvin "Smitty" Smith.

This is an incredible opportunity to get an incredibly special drum originally owned by a very special drummer. With Ford Drums now out of production this is also a great opportunity to get one of their flagship Exotic Series snares from the early years.
