Here we have a stunning Pearl Masterworks set with a mix of Maple, Birch and Mahogany shells with not one but two very impressive previous owners. Originally this kit was built for Ryan Richards. This was the very kit he used with Funeral for a Friend between 2007 and 2012. The kit was used throughout all their tours during this time and appears on numerous music videos and recordings too.

Then the kit changed hands and belonged to producer and bassist Adam 'Nolly' Getgood who many of you will know from Periphery. This kit has been part of his personal collection and will have been again used for recording and sampling sessions. 

Now the kit has come back to Wales and we are really pleased to be able to offer it here for sale. Nolly kept the original Funeral for a Friend bass drum head safe and we have been able to fit that back on to the kit, we have replaced a few work black parts with new original Pearl parts and the kit is fully re-headed top and bottom with Evans G2 tom batters, Genera Resonants and an EQ3 Bass Drum head.

Kit Specs

This kit has a serious specification, as many of you will know Pearl Masterworks drums are Pearl's top of the line flagship custom shop range made by a small team of Pearl's master craftsmen. Every aspect of a Masterworks set is customisable and this one has an incredible specification. Starting with the exterior first. The finish is Piano Black with Red Sparkle inlay, the execution of this finish is incredible. To set the finish off further the fittings are all Black Chrome. The lugs on this are the Reference style BRL100 Bridge lugs, the Opti-mounts are the newer style Black Chrome Aluminium and the hoops are the Mastercast Black Chrome Die-Cast.

The shells on this set are a mix of 6 ply and 8 ply with a range of shell material blends and bearing edges that we'll detail below. Ryan made some great choices with the inner plies on this kit which help to shape the tone and definition, on the smallest 10" tom the inner plies are Birch which help to add attack and cut, the 12" is maple which is what pearl always refer to as the standard for a 12' offering warmth and balance. For the Floor Toms and Bass Drum a good amount of the shells including the all there inner plies are Mahogany which adds extra enhanced low range and depth.

This is going to be a great kit particularly for any Funeral for a Friend fans. That said it is also a great kit in it's own right with two professional previous owners who have relied on it for it's sonic properties. If you want a great looking and great sounding Masterworks this could be a great shout.

  • Pre-Loved - 7/10 Condition This is an ex tour and studio kit, there are surface marks on the Piano Black lacquer and black chrome hardware. Nothing under the lacquer, the kit still looks great and is in 100% working and original order.
