Here we have a Yamaha SD493 14 x 3.5 brass piccolo snare drum. This drum came to us from a hire company and up on close inspection we found a split in the shell, please see the circled picture. The split is right through and about 1cm from the top. It isn't affecting the drum in terms of playing or sound. We've got no idea how this would have originally been caused but we are pricing the drum accordingly.

We've fitted a new top head, the snare mechanism, lugs and hoops are all original and tuned up it sounds exactly as it should. A very nice high quality cheap brass piccolo for some one.
