Here we have a pretty rare Yamaha Mike Bordin signature snare drum. This is a unique 2mm which Copper shell snare drum designed for Mike with hand hammering on the bottom half of the shell. At the time this was the heaviest snare produced by Yamaha and was made by them in Japan.
14"x 6.5" 2mm thick Copper Shell
Copper snare drums cut thru loud music but have a warmer tone than other metal shells. Copper shells have enhanced low-end frequencies that give them a darker tone that works great in all musical situations. The Mike Bordin snare drum has an extra-thick 2mm shell to stand up to Mike's aggressive playing.
Hand-Hammered on the bottom half
Hand-hammering distresses the metal and gives it even darker tonal characteristics. This drum is hammered on the bottom half for warmth, but the top half is not hammered so that the drum can take the punishment of even the heaviest hitter.
Anton Fig style lugs
The Mike Bordin snare uses the same lugs found on the Anton Fig snare. These lugs are borrowed the same used on Yamaha marching drums for clean looks and durability.
Black coated rims and unique finish
The 2.3mm thick triple flange Dyna Hoops are strong, giving you precise tuning yet they allow the drum to open up. The rims on the SD6465MB are black coated, and the shell is "heat finished" to give it a beautiful dark finish.
Pre-Loved - 8.5 / 10 condition
This snare is in really good condition, there are a few surface marks on the black powder coat rims which is a typical sign of ageing on these type of surface finishes. We've fitted the snare with a brand new CS Dot batter head, this snare is ready to go to work. If you are looking for a heavy metal rock sounding snare drum, this could be the perfect choice!
