REMO 14 X 5.5 MASTERTOUCH VENWOOD SNARE DRUM, EBONY (PRE-LOVED)
Here we have a snare that we don't often come across. It's a Remo Mastertouch. The Mastertouch was a range originally launched by Remo in 1988 as their professional series. All the Mastertouch drums were made from a synthetic material developed by Remo called Acousticon. Originally Remo offered the Mastertouch kits in a series of specially designed plastic finishes called Quadura. Around 1996 Remo launched the Mastertouch Venwood which featured a real maple veneer outer finish which is bonded to the Acousticon shell. You may remember the marketing campaigns run by Remo with both Ricky Lawson and Jeff Hamilton for the Venwood series which was a very short lived range, but like the Mastertouch range, these really were and are great drums.
If you are looking for something a little different, the Mastertouch may be just the snare for you. Acousticon Shells sound really great, lots of great low mid range is present in these drums and there is a great control in the overtones which I personally put down to the rougher interior finish which acts much like acoustic treatment on a wall. The drum is in great condition, it was used as a recording drum by a professional player, certainly a great drum to add to the snare sound palette.
