SLINGERLAND STUDIO KING NASHVILLE DRUM KIT, 4 PIECE SHELL PACK, RAVEN BLUE LACQUER (PRE-LOVED)
Here we have something that you could say is very close to the holy grail of drum kits. This is a 90's Slingerland Studio King, these amazing hand built drums were crafted by Sam Bacco and finished by Pat Foley at the time when Gibson were running Slingerland from Nashville.
These drum kits are regarded by many top American artists as the best drum set ever made. During the Nashville period Slingerland were being made using Keller Maple Shells but the bearing edge and finish were down to Sam & Pat and their craftsmanship gave these drums a totally different edge to many other kits. Some people confuse these drums with the Gibson 'Conway' era drums which came a little later, some people did report problems with Wraps and Quality on the Conway, these drums where certainly not part of the Nashville era, and not built by Sam and Pat.
As you would expect, the kit has DieCast Hoops, Slingerland fittings and the Cloudy Nashville Gold Badges. The toms are on R.I.M.S. mounts and the floor tom has been retro fitted with DW brackets and legs which look very much in keeping and are probably a vast improvement on suspending the drum from a tom arm. The kit is finished in Raven Blue Lacquer and I've been told that only 7 kits were ever made in this finish.
Condition wise the kit is in nice condition, given it's around 25-28 years old it is showing signs of use (mainly the bass drum - some tom rash and surface marks), but it is still a very striking drum set, the chrome is great and the shells are in top condition. I'd mark this 7.5/10
