The Legacy is Ludwig’s flagship drum kit and re-visits the original shell that started it all!

We are extremely excited to show you this Ludwig Legacy Classic Mahogany drum set. Legacy is the top-of-the-line shell from Ludwig which is the legendary Ludwig sound from their golden shell building era. Whilst the shell delivers that beautiful vintage sound captured on so many iconic recordings and live performances we've spec'd this Legacy to feature the benefits of Ludwig's 21st Century finish and build quality making this kit a complete triple threat.

Handcrafted in Monroe, NC, the 3-ply Mahogany/Poplar/Mahogany shell with solid 1" thick maple reinforcement rings utilizes a process refined through a century of drum manufacturing. The result is a tone with rich sonic warmth that sounds exactly as you would expect from a classic Ludwig set.

1/16" Mahogany Outer Ply, 1/8" Poplar Core Ply, 1/16" Mahogany Inner Ply with 1/4" Solid Maple Reinforcement Rings.

The key to Legacy's classic tone begins with a cross-laminated American Poplar center ply to lend focus to the warm rich low-end "woody" tones of inner/outer Mahogany plies. This unique shell combination is further stabilized by a specially rounded bearing edge with 1" solid maple reinforcement rings.

30 Degree inner cut bearing edges with a 1/4" radius round over produce a pure, well-rounded sonic footprint. Legacy Series revives the distinctive sound that set the standard for popular music throughout the 20th Century.

Ludwig and Ludwig's 3-ply shell formula was unveiled in 1923; at the time touted as being built "...in accordance with the recognized correct principles used in the manufacture of airplanes." This classic construction evolved into a sound that captured the attention of generations of drummers.

For the last 6 decades and counting drummers, their bands and their recording teams have demanded the benchmark sound that only this shell formula can produce, these drums are controlled, melodic and tone packed, once you start playing a Legacy you simply won't want to stop!

Tradition, Craftsmanship and Visionary Excellence

The kit we have here was specially ordered, it's finished in Vintage Blue Oyster with White Resa Cote interiors which truly make this kit feel like a 1960's era set. We opted for Large Classic Lugs, drilled Triad tom and floor tom brackets, drilled bass drum with Atlas double tom holder, Baseball Bat internal dampeners and Elite bass drum spurs. This is absolutely the only kit of its kind.
