We’re very excited to announce that we have secured 3 of these incredibly beautiful and very limited edition snare drums from Noble & Cooley. This is Number 3 of 20.
Over a year ago one of N&C’s veneer suppliers let them know about a particularly special limited batch of Ziricote they had just received. They gave N&C the option to make a select few snares out of it.
After doing some prototyping N&C landed on a 6mm, 7 ply shell, made predominately of English Chestnut with an outer veneer of the beautiful Ziricote.
Ziricote is a naturally hard and oily wood, so for finishing, these drums have been sanded to 1500 grit and buffed to a natural shine using no finish at all. To protect the grain and keep the natural luster N&C have applied a thin coat of carnauba wax and polished the drums again.
This wood combo and size results in a drum that is sensitive and lively with a crisp attack. The note has a nice round mid/low presence with a sustain and ring more akin to a metal snare than a wood drum.
